Bridal Couture
Individually designed and handcrafted wedding gowns, created by Andrea Gorrie in her Armadale studio.
Each gown begins with the individual — their ideas, their personal style and how they would like to feel on their wedding day.
EACH GOWN BEGINS WITH THE INDIVIDUAL
Every gown begins with a conversation.
Andrea works personally with each client, taking the time to understand the individual, their wedding, their ideas and what is important to them.
There is no pre-designed collection. Each gown develops individually through conversation, fabric selection, the calico toile, fittings and construction.
A unique pattern is developed for every client, allowing the proportions, line and detail of the gown to evolve specifically for them.
The result is a gown that feels considered, individual and entirely connected to the person wearing it.
WELCOME TO THE STUDIO
The private studio is located upstairs on High Street in Armadale, Melbourne.
An initial studio conversation is an opportunity to meet Andrea, see the studio and talk about your wedding, your ideas and the possibilities for your gown.
It is a relaxed conversation rather than a commitment to a particular design. There is time afterwards to consider everything discussed and decide how you would like to proceed.
From the first conversation onwards, you will work directly with Andrea.

FABRICS, LACE & DETAIL
Each gown is individually developed and made in Andrea’s Armadale studio.
Patterns are created specifically for the client rather than adapted from a standard collection. Andrea often works directly on the form and through draping, allowing proportion and line to develop naturally before translating the design into the final pattern.
Traditional couture techniques, careful internal construction and hand finishing are used where appropriate to the design.
The work is precise, but the purpose is always the same: to create a gown that feels natural on the person wearing it.
MADE IN THE ARMADALE STUDIO
Each gown is developed, fitted and handcrafted in my private studio on High Street, Armadale.
My work brings together design, patternmaking, fitting, construction and hand finishing, informed by more than forty years working with clothing, fabric and the body.
Each stage is undertaken within the studio, with particular attention to the finer details and the ultimate quality of the garment.
COMMISSIONING YOUR GOWN
Timing
A couture gown will typically require approximately 9–12 months from the beginning of the process to completion.
A shorter timeframe of approximately 3–4 months may occasionally be possible and is assessed individually according to the design, fabrics and studio schedule.
Bookings are generally taken for weddings 10–12 months beforehand, so an early conversation is encouraged.
Investment
Every gown is individually designed and quoted.
The quotation is prepared once the design direction and fabric requirements have been established.
Once the design and quotation are confirmed, a payment schedule is agreed, with payments made progressively throughout the couture process.
Fabric is purchased once the commission is confirmed.
Private consultations
All consultations and fittings are private and by appointment at the Armadale studio.
Because Andrea works personally with every client and each gown is individually made, the number of commissions accepted each year is naturally limited.
